Sydney College of Divinity registered as a University College

20 July 2023

We are pleased to announce that the Sydney College of Divinity has been registered as a University College by the federal regulator, the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA).

The Australian University College category was established in 2021 following legislative reforms to the categorisation of Australian higher education providers to recognise the quality and scholarship of self-accrediting independent providers.

TEQSA Chief Commissioner Professor Peter Coaldrake AO announced:

“On behalf of TEQSA, I congratulate the Sydney College of Divinity on achieving registration as Australia’s sixth University College. The University College category supports more opportunities for providers to develop course offerings that better meet the future needs of students, employers, industry and communities.”

“We are pleased to see TEQSA recognises the superior quality of the Sydney College of Divinity in the delivery our range of specialised degrees from diploma to doctorate,” said Professor Stephen Smith, Dean and CEO.

For the time being SCD will retain its current name and add “An Australian University College” as a tagline where appropriate.
