Vision

The Sydney College of Divinity operates as a leading theological education provider equipping people for effective professional and lay ministry in a rapidly changing environment.

 

Mission

To serve disciples of Jesus who are serious about Kingdom living by developing and equipping them for ministry.

 

Values

Missional

We prepare leaders who are adept to lead and build up the Church in a culturally – contextualised way. Our desire is to see God’s word flourish through a broad range of individuals, churches and communities.

Academic

We are known for our academic excellence. We believe in the centrality of the bible, and the powerful transformation that comes from a theologically-sound understanding of it in our lives and churches.

Servant-hearted

We desire to be deeply relational and real, embodying Christ with a servant-hearted attitude in our relationship with students, member colleges, and the broader church community.

Aims

  • Provide high quality, accredited theological education from undergraduate to graduate level
  • Prepare leaders and ministers, both ordained and non-ordained, to be well equipped to build the future of church and community
  • Encourage theological scholarship that is ecumenically sensitive and inclusive of teaching on relevant issues of culture and society 
  • Contribute to the public discussion on issues of faith and culture 
  • Promote the growth of our individual member colleges
  • Provide our teachers with the opportunity to develop their professional skills, and be supported by a community of Christian scholars
  • Prepare the next generation of Christian teachers and scholars

  • A commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ as it is preached and lived out within our Christian denominations
  • A respect for the different theological standpoints of our member institutions
  • A properly critical approach to theological reflection on our faith traditions and on the relationship between faith and culture
