Carolyn Alsen holds 20 years of experience as an educator and researcher in biblical studies, religious studies and linguistics, higher education leadership and management in various institutions in Australia, North America, and the Pacific. Carolyn has published research in biblical studies, higher education and field work in minority language Bible translation with SIL. Her pastoral and educational leadership experience extends to university residential college and Christian parish-based pastoral work, and secondary religious education teaching.

As Director of Academic Coursework, Carolyn works with an academic and professional team within the Sydney College of Divinity Office of the Dean. Carolyn seeks to advise and coach Academic Deans and academic staff in institutional learning and teaching and management of their roles in quality and higher education standards. Carolyn also conducts quality review of theological curriculum, manages continual improvement in Academic Board sub-committees and conducts research in theological education leadership, biblical studies and higher education.
