At the end of this unit students will be able to:

  1. Explain the social and cultural dynamics of their ministry setting as they affect sermon preparation and delivery
  2. Outline basic hermeneutical principles to be applied to cultural contexts
  3. Assess the effectiveness of sermon styles delivered in different social contexts
  4. Construct a range of sermon outlines incorporating the specific hermeneutical and cultural insights acquired
  5. Apply the acquired knowledge and skills to the delivery of culturally appropriate sermons.
