This unit examines preaching in its social and cultural context. The student will explore the practice of preaching and learn how to design and deliver in various communication styles relevant to a variety of audiences.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this unit students will be able to:
- Assess contemporary social and cultural context, looking at future trends, and comment on the place of preaching
- explain the principles underlying effective preaching in particular contexts
- design sermons or homilies incorporating variations in style and structure
- discuss sermons or homilies with reference to their social and cultural context
- preach sermons or homilies that effectively communicate in different contexts.
