Isaiah
This postgraduate unit provides an opportunity to deepen one’s knowledge of Israelite prophecy through an in-depth study of the book of Isaiah. It addresses the theories concerning the unity of the book, its literary forms as well as the historical, social, religious, and cultural background of the book. Key theological themes such as the Immanuel sign, the Servant tradition and the Zion tradition are investigated. The unit includes exegesis of selected passages.

At the end of this unit students will be able to:
- establish a thorough knowledge of the historical, geographical, and social background of Isaiah

- develop an advanced critical ability to exegete passages from Isaiah
- apply an understanding of Isaiah to preaching and worship
