Introduction to Ministry in the Church
The unit Introduction to Ministry in the Church introduces students to a biblical, cultural and practical understanding of the life and mission of the local church. It will enable the student to reflect on the purpose of the local church with particular reference to ministry as mission.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this unit students will be able to:
- Explain the nature and purpose of the local church from biblical, cultural and practical perspectives
- Identify the nature of cultural change over recent decades and its various impacts on church life
- Discuss the role of mission in today’s church with particular reference to its implementation in a changing cultural context
- Examine selected key areas of local church ministry and identify their contribution to mission
- Create a program for a local church that seeks to implement a “multiplication” mindset.
