The unit Contemporary Issues in Theological Education is designed to allow students to explore issues of contemporary significance that influence the policies and practices of theological education. It is an Elective Unit in the Graduate Certificate of Theological Education.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this unit students will be able to:

  1. Identify emergent social, educational and political issues which have the capacity to influence theological education
  2. Articulate the degree of consonance and/or dissonance between the philosophical/historical basis of these issues with the principles of theological education
  3. Analyse the immediate and potential impact on theological education of these issues
  4. Evaluate a variety of actual or potential responses to the challenges presented by these issues
  5. Establish strategies for the engagement of theological education with the identified issues.
