SCD Press

In 2016 the SCD Council decided to seek a higher profile and increased productivity for the SCD Press, and a significant program of publications is being developed, to provide a range of peer-reviewed publication opportunities for SCD faculty, SCD research students, and other interested academics.

The SCD Press was notionally established in 2003 but little used until the recent publication of the academic journal of the SCD Korean School of Theology, Journal of Theological Reflections. The first volume appeared in 2013, the second in 2016, and it is intended henceforth to appear annually. Articles are variously in Korean and English.

One group of SCD publications will consist of successful SCD research theses for which this would be the most suitable forum. Other groups planned will focus on other areas such as biblical, theological, ecclesiastical, pastoral, and interdisciplinary studies.

In an exciting new development, SCD Press has reached an agreement with the editors of Early Christian Studies, previously published by the Australian Catholic University and St Pauls, Sydney, to take over publication of this important monograph series and to handle ongoing sales of the existing volumes.

The core Editorial Board of SCD Press consists of the academic staff based in the Office of the Dean, Prof. Diane Speed (Dean and CEO, Chair), Prof. James Harrison (Research Director), and Dr Peter Bolt (Academic Director), assisted by SCD management staff. As well as engaging expert readers for particular series and volumes, each series will have an Editorial Board with additional members with relevant expertise. In the case of Early Christian Studies, for example, the SCD core group has been joined by the series editors to this point: Prof. Pauline Allen (Australian Catholic University), Prof. Wendy Mayer (Australian Lutheran College), and Prof. Bronwen Neil (Macquarie University).

SCD values excellent research publication with a diverse and international reach. It is our hope that the renewed growth of SCD Press will both make a real contribution to the wider world of academe and also enrich and encourage those whose work will find a home in our lists.
